Diabetes
Diabetes is diagnosed by measuring the glucose levels in blood.
One of the best ways to check that diabetes is under control is via HbA1c
monitoring Test.
What is HbA1C Monitoring?
A test that measures a person's average blood glucose levels over the past 2 to
3 months.
Haemoglobin is the part of a red blood cell that carries oxygen to
the cells and sometimes joins with the glucose in the bloodstream. Also called
hemoglobin A1C or glycosylated haemoglobin, the test shows the amount of glucose
that sticks to the red blood cell, which is proportional to the amount of
glucose in the blood.
The haemoglobin A1c test is a simple lab test that shows the average amount of
sugar in your blood over the last two to three months. It's the best way to find
out if your blood sugar is under control. All people with type 2 diabetes should
have a haemoglobin A1c test at least twice a year.
